MARUG Honorary Members
The select group of MARUG Honorary Members has made distinctive contributions to the MARUG over a longer period of time, and these members are extremely valuable to the association. These members have been appointed as honorary members during a (semi-)annual General Members Meeting. Meet our honorary members here and read more about their unique value for the MARUG.
prof. dr. Peter Leeflang
The MARUG was founded in 1981 by Professor Leeflang, emeritus professor in the department of Marketing at the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) of the University of Groningen. He received his PhD in 1974 from the Erasmus University in Rotterdam for his research on "Mathematical models in Marketing". He is connected to the University of Groningen since 1976 as a professor in marketing. Without professor Leeflang the MARUG would not have existed and he is thus the founder of the contemporary success of the association. He remained involved for the entire existence of the MARUG.
dr. Karel Jan Alsem
Karel Jan Alsem received his PhD in Marketing in 1991 and started working as a professor in marketing at the University of Groningen afterwards. Next to his activities at the university he founded his own company, AlsemStrategie. With this company, he advises organizations and organizes Masterclass in Marketing for care organizations. As a teacher, he is also connected to the Hanze
University of Applied Sciences. He is a very valuable member of the MARUG and provided the association with advice and help numerous times. Recently, he provided his valuable knowledge for one of the many events the MARUG organizes, and was the chairman of the day at one of the MSc Marketing events.
dr. Janny Hoekstra
Janny Hoekstra has been a professor in marketing at the University of
Groningen since 1994. She teaches in the MSc Marketing program and she is an associate professor at the RUG. She also taught courses in marketing for a few years at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam. Next to her job as a professor, she does a lot of marketing related research and she is the chairman of the Marketing Support Group Groningen. She contributed a lot to the MARUG the past years and she is still actively involved in the association.
dr. Liane Voerman
Liane Voerman was the former program coordinator of the MSc Marketing and as a teacher of several marketing courses in both bachelor and master programmes, she is someone with an extraordinary knowledge in marketing. Next to her activities in the department of Marketing at the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) she has worked hard to contribute to the MARUG and has proved much honor to the association. She helped the association on many levels and her enthusiasm makes her always approachable.
dr. Jelle Bouma
Jelle Bouma is the newest honorary member of the MARUG. Next to his role as Business School Director at the University of Groningen, Jelle Bouma has been the Head of Customer Insights Center, which is a valuable partner of the MARUG. Within the MARUG he was the treasurer and vice chairman of the
Board in 1993-1994. Since then, he has always been involved with the MARUG. He is since 2001 member of the Conference Advisory Board and has been a speaker at our events multiple times. With all his great ideas, he contributed a
lot to the association and helps bringing the MARUG to a new level.
