First things first, I wish you all the best for 2019! In the past 12 months we’ve all seen thousands and thousands of different ads. And just when you think you’ve seen all possible ads, another one pops up. In today’s blog I will be highlighting the best ads of 2018, to review one of the world’s finest pieces of (marketing) art!

1, Old Spice

Yes ladies, this was absolute an ad to remember, an ad I will never forget and I think with me, many more will never forget the man your man could smell like. This ad contains everything we could’ve ask for: it uses humour to trigger men into buying the products from Old Spice because they want to be the man in the commercial. Also, they use an amazing looking man to trigger all the women in the world to watch the commercial. And it definitely worked, the ad got more than 52 million (!) views. Men want to be ‘The man your man could smell like’ and ladies want to have ‘the man your man could smell like’.

2. Face ID on Apple's IPhone

2018 was an amazing year for Apple’s creative marketing department. One of their finest pieces was the one in which they sort of ‘introduced’ their new feature: the Face ID. The commercial shows a girl that finds out that she can unlock her IPhone with just a glance, thanks to Face ID, can she maybe open everything else by just looking at it?

3. Ikea's 'Peeing on this ad may change your life'

This ad doubled as a pregnancy test by changing colour if your urine contained pregnancy markers. The ad would show a discount on an Ikea crib if the ‘pregnancy test’ was positive. This ad rolled out right at the beginning of 2018 and set the bar nice and early for how weird advertising could get in 2018, but no other ad came even close to this one. The only thing you needed to do to get your pregnancy discount was to return the ad you had recently peed on, but hey, the things we would do for discounts.

2018 was a year full of ads, and these were a few one of 2018’s finest. Can’t wait what 2019 is going to bring us!
