This year, the first Sustainable Marketing Event is going to take place on the 30th of April! We as the MARUG want to set an example for sustainability. At the Sustainable Marketing Event multiple speakers from interesting companies will present their solutions for sustainable business practices. Our event is a great opportunity to gain first-hand solutions from sustainable businesses, but also to learn how to implement small sustainable changes in your daily life, or simply to connect with other students concerned with sustainability. You, as participants, are more than welcome to engage in our interactive discussion with the speakers and the moderator. Several winning games, and a sustainable dinner will be offered at the event. The Sustainable Marketing Event Committee is looking forward to meet you at the event!
You can sign up for only €5! Non-MARUG members can buy a ticket for €10. If you want to subscribe as a Non-MARUG Member, you first have to create a temporary account.You can also first become a member of the MARUG for only €4. This means that it is cheaper for you to first become a MARUG Member ;)

In case of cancelation of the event, you will receive the money back. We will also try to shift the event to another date!
Sustainable Marketing Event 2020
Do I really need this new shirt? Should I take a hot or rather a cold shower? Self-cooking or ordering at my lunch cafe around the corner?
Student life can be full of those decisions and we want to help you with answering them. Are you interested in sustainability, how it takes place in your daily life, and especially how COMPANIES try to be sustainable? In a world that focus on profit-seeking it is not always easy to make the most sustainable decisions. The Sustainable Marketing Event invited four companies from different industries to talk about their solutions for sustainable business practices. Besides interesting PRESENTATIONS, great PRICES, a sustainable DINNER, free DRINKS, and a cool GOODIEBAG will make the event to a great experience!

The Sustainable Marketing Event will take place at de Bovenkamer van Groningen. You find this unique location right next to the beautiful Noorderplantsoen. De Bovenkamer van Groningen has an amazing view over Groningen. At our event you will have the unique opportunity to enjoy this beautiful view of our city. The green environment perfectly matches with intentions of the Sustainable Marketing Event.
The Brasserie Het Paleis will cook a sustainable and organic dinner for our event. They work only with honest, and mostly organic products. Everything will be home-made and fresh. Due to their efforts for sustainability, Het Paleis is rewarded with the ‘ik kook bewust’ certificate.
Moderator of the Day
The moderator of the day is David Olk.
Hey, my name is David Olk. I am currently doing a PhD in Marketing in which I research the promotion of healthier and more sustainable products in retailing. Before this, I did the Double Degree Master of Marketing in Groningen and Oslo. Outside of work I enjoy traveling, photography, festivals, hanging out with friends and absolutely love playing beach volleyball.
The speaker, Maarten de Groot, is primarily responsible for marketing, communication, PR and sponsoring of Groenleven.

The speaker Samantha is a Business Analyst in the Enterprise, Technology & Performance Team at Deloitte the Netherlands. The Smooth Brothers
The Smooth Brothers opened its door in May 2017 and is founded by the three brothers; Ziki, Yama and Razi Masoud. Ziki (38) got his MBA in Finance and Marketing in USA and worked there as a Dean for 4 years. Yama (33) got his Masters in Marketing in Amsterdam and Ms in Psychology from university of Leiden. He worked 5 years as Psychologist in Zwolle and Groningen. Razi (31) got his degree in Marketing and Advertisement, specialized in Branding in Amsterdam and worked as a marketeer at the Pop venue Hedon in Zwolle. By now The Smooth Brothers has evolved from a smoothie bar to a second living room where people come to visit the brothers and enjoy a good cup of coffee, smoothie, juice, smoothie bowl, sandwich and, of course, the music (Jazz, blues, soul, funk and rock & roll).
None of the brothers can either sing, dance or play an instrument, but put them in a kitchen and they’ll give you a symphony.
The speaker Tristan is the co-founder of GaiaFood, a company that makes sustainable and nutritious
food using insects as the main ingredient. Their mission is to make insects a normal part of our diet.
The young entrepreneur is driven by creating a positive impact. Hid focus lies on the fields of Health, Education, Sustainability and Self-development.
For Tristan, entrepreneurship is not about closing deals and chasing money: it is about building scalable and sustainable businesses to make a positive contribution to society.
