My name is Roos Boschman and I will be the next chairman of the board of MARUG. I am 21 years old and currently finishing my Bachelor in International Business. My hobbies include playing tennis, going out with friends, and being creative. A few years ago, I moved from my hometown Heerde to Groningen to start my studies. From early on in my student life, I noticed that I enjoyed being active in committees and contributing to something beyond my studies. As I will (hopefully!) complete my bachelor this year, I am excited to dedicate my gap year to a new challenge: the MARUG board. I am very much looking forward to taking on this role and making the most out of this unique opportunity.
I had already been familiar with MARUG for quite some time, but everything really started to fall into place after my exchange in Vietnam. At the beginning of 2026, while I was travelling, I coincidentally ran into two former chairmen, Carine and Lyset. Talking to them about their board year and hearing all their experiences made me even more excited about MARUG. They both told me that they thought this position would suit me well, which really stuck with me. Not long after, I had a call with Sophie. Even through the phone, her enthusiasm about doing a board year was contagious. After that conversation, I knew for sure: I was going to apply for the position of chairman.
A week after applying, I received the amazing news that I was selected as chairman of the MARUG Board 2025–2026. That moment marked the start of an exciting new chapter for me.
For the upcoming year, I’m looking for five enthusiastic people who would like to join me on this journey. Are you ready for a board year full of new opportunities, great people, and fun challenges? Send me a message at +31 6 21343751 and let’s grab a coffee, I’d love to tell you more!
