At the MARUG, your privacy and the processing of your personal information are treated with the highest respect. Your personal information will only be used for the purposes you have consented to. All information is processed in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Dutch Telecommunications Act.

3. The MARUG Community
The community registry is an internal feature designed to facilitate networking and connection between our members.

  • Member Visibility: Your profile, including your name, photo, and committee history, is only accessible to currently logged-in MARUG members.

  • Data Control: You can modify your profile or request to hide specific details from the registry through your account settings or by contacting the Board.

  • Privacy by Design: This registry is not indexed by search engines and is not available to the general public or external organizations.

4. Media and Photography
We capture media during our events to document the association’s activities and for promotional purposes.

  • Internal Publication: Photos and videos may be shared in the photo albums on our website and on our official social media channels.

  • Removal Rights: You may contact us at any time to request the removal of a specific photo in which you are identifiable.

  • Event Protocol: If you prefer not to be photographed, please inform the photographer or a Board member at the start of the event.

5. Career and Recruitment
We facilitate professional development by connecting our members with partner companies through recruitment events.

  • CV Sharing: Your curriculum vitae is shared with participating companies only if you explicitly submit it for a specific recruitment event.

  • Recruitment Pool: Data provided for the MARUG Pool is stored securely and used only for the career-matching purposes you have agreed to.

  • Data Separation: We do not share your CV or recruitment documents with the EBF or any party not involved in the specific event.

6. Third-Party Data Sharing
We only share specific data with trusted partners when it is necessary for the proper functioning of the association.

  • EBF Verification: We share student numbers and email addresses to verify joint-membership requirements as stated in the MARUG internal regulations.

  • Data Processors: We maintain official agreements with Genkgo and Google to ensure your information is handled safely on our digital platforms.

  • No Commercial Sale: We never sell your personal information to third parties for commercial or marketing use.

7. Data Security
We implement strict technical and organizational measures to ensure the safety of your personal information.

  • System Protection: Our website and databases are periodically tested and updated to prevent unauthorized access or data loss.

  • Breach Notification: We report significant data breaches to the Dutch Data Protection Authority (AP) within 72 hours of discovery.

  • Direct Communication: You will be informed promptly if a data security breach is likely to result in a high risk to your personal privacy.

8. Storage and Retention
We do not store your personal data for longer than is necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected.

  • Post-Membership: Personal data is deleted within 2 years after your membership ends, unless you choose to join our alumni network.
