1. MARUG membership
-
The MARUG membership is structured to support students during their studies and throughout their professional careers as alumni.
-
Student membership is the regular membership for students. Only students who are enrolled at the University of Groningen are eligible. This membership remains active until the student’s graduation.
-
Plus Intro membership is a transitional membership for graduated students during their first year after their graduation at the University of Groningen. This membership has a fixed duration of one year.
-
Plus membership is the official alumni membership. Graduates automatically transition to this category after completing their year as a Plus Intro member. This membership lasts for an indefinite period.
-
-
After graduation, a student membership will be converted to a Plus Intro membership. The Plus Intro membership has the duration of one year and will, after this period of time, be converted to a Plus membership.
-
A Plus Intro membership can start twice a year, on the 1st of February and the 1st of September. Students who graduate inbetween September 2nd and January 31st can attend Plus activities on the 1st of February and onwards. Students who graduate inbetween February 2nd and August 31st can attend Plus activities on the 1st of September and onwards. The current MARUG board can make exceptions on individual cases.
-
-
One year of membership runs from the 1st of September until the 31st of August. The termination of a membership has to take place before the 1st of September. In the case of a termination after the 1st of September, the contribution for the corresponding academic year will still be collected.
-
A membership can be terminated as a result of a member passing away, withdrawal from membership by the association, withdrawal from membership by the member or dischargement (MARUG Articles of Association, Article 7.1). A withdrawal from membership by a member is only valid when this is presented in writing. The termination of a membership can be differentiated between two manners:
-
termination as of next academic year means that the membership will be terminated at the end of the current academic year. During this year, a member will still receive mail and can still join MARUG events;
-
immediate termination means that a membership will be terminated straightaway. From that moment on, he or she will no longer receive mail. As of the following academic year, a former member will no longer pay contribution.
